CURRENT ROLES AVAILABLE:

FRONT OF HOUSE/BAR:

We are recruiting for a Front of House member to join our fabulous team – 25-30 hours per week.
If you are a positive and reliable person, who loves meeting people and can offer tremendous customer service then please contact us. Experience is preferred but full training can be given.

As a pub in the heart of a village we have a passion for fresh, local produce, great beer and creating a welcoming atmosphere each day for our guests. We put on multiple events so there is a huge amount of variety to the role and our team make working here a really special place.

Overview:
You will be a skilled and experienced FOH to work in all aspects of the pub, ensuring a high presentation standard in all areas and an excellent level of customer service at all times.

You will have the following skills and abilities:

  • Help support all aspects of the bar / restaurant / accommodation with a keen eye for high standards.
  • Support Kitchen team in ensure food quality and hygiene are maintained at highest levels.
  • High standard of food safety and hygiene knowledge including best practice so that we can achieve and maintain a 5 star Food Hygiene Rating.
  • Knowledge of allergens and ability to cope with dietary and customer requirements.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as the needs of the business require.
  • Maintain, keep clean, tidy & organised the bar equipment, cellar, storage & laundry areas.
  • Ability to meet and greet, ensure superb customer service and building rapport with all guests especially through our local community.
  • Create welcoming friendly atmosphere with a superb customer experience for all.
  • Ability to handle customer feedback and turn complaints into positive outcomes by liaising promptly. with Management team
    Maintain impeccable standards.
  • Help ensure that wastage of products and time are minimised
    Support team with putting on special events.

HEAD CHEF:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our fabulous kitchen team, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and inventory management . If you have a proven track record, a passion for food, drive to succeed and enjoy autonomy but with support given where needed, we want to hear from you.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of food preparation and cooking in the kitchen with British cuisine as focus
  • Create and develop innovative menu items that meet our customer preferences and dietary restrictions with a super specials board
  • Ensure that all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and food handling procedures
  • Manage inventory levels and order supplies as needed
  • Collaborate with front of house / bar management to develop seasonal menus, specials and events
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
  • Monitor food costs and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standard of taste, presentation, and quality

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Chef within the culinary industry
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to successfully manage a team
  • Superb culinary skills with expertise in various cooking techniques
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong financial acumen in managing inventory / purchasing
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Start an exciting new chapter in an established pub in a great village location. The Red Lion in Madley is a gorgeous Listed building with woodburners and timber beams, right in the heart of the village on the edge of a stunning rural location.

As owners, we are a local family with two young children that cares about providing a wonderful hub for our local community and for all the brilliant holiday homes in the area too. We know most of the farming base across Herefordshire with excellent connections for sourcing the best local and seasonal produce.

You will be part of a wider team with a great support network, fantastic marketing and a huge network which have in 7 months already created a superb and loyal customer base. We are a team that treats staff well and will support you but without micro managing and absolutely no politics allowed. We have a huge energy and drive – and have already successfully created a number of businesses across the area.

We have a busy calendar with a wide range of events throughout the year keeping the team busy with fun opportunities to be creative to fit each of these events. We have 7 en-suite letting rooms and lots of local groups which choose us for their base and local companies who regularly visit all ensuring that we are very busy hence the search to add to our team.

We have some on site accommodation, on site parking, competitive pay rates, excellent tips and a dynamic work environment with two consecutive days off for full time staff.
